The voice of the mountain

“I learnt at a very young age to master the art that belonged to my father, the artisan rules and the secrets of the materials, until I managed to shape, with my very own hands, my first mountain shoes - which I would wear throughout the woods and the paths of my beloved mountains.”

This is how Nello Grossule recalls the start of his journey as a Cordwainer when, in 1937, helping his father repair shoes, he learnt the skills and secrets of shoemaking and began creating specialist shoes to support his love of hiking.

As the years passed, his boots became recognised beyond Italy due to their extraordinary strength and comfort. Throughout the decades Nello’s commitment to quality remained steadfast.  Now, the trade is carried out by Nello’s sons Fabio and Mario Grossule.

The plunge

Word spread that Nello was creating the best mountaineering boots in all of Italy, and in the early 1950's he poured his life's savings into the investment of equipment and a few select craftsmen and he began manufacturing in his small workshop.

Experience becomes a brand

Nello balanced the quality of traditional shoemaking techniques with a love of innovative design, where he would personally hand-select the finest leathers, and source cutting-edge materials to deliver the most advanced technical footwear.

Family passion

Nowadays, the company is led by Nello’s sons, Fabio and Mario Grossule, who continue to craft footwear with the same passion as their father, in their family factory in Lessinia, Italy.
